  • Erin B. Montgomery

    Erin Montgomery has been practicing workers’ compensation exclusively since 2010 and currently sits on the Workers Compensation Education Association Board of Directors. She has represented claimants from all over Colorado who have been injured in a wide variety of professions and enjoys the fast-paced field of workers’ compensation law that is constantly evolving. She takes great pride in advocating to maximize the benefits and medical treatment for injured workers to get back to supporting their families. Having spent three years of her workers’ compensation career practicing in-house for the State of Colorado at the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, she gained valuable experience and insight into the defense side and how insurance adjusters assess and handle claims. Ms. Montgomery is a Colorado native, having attending both college and law school at the University of Colorado, Boulder. She has clerked or practiced law in Trinidad, Boulder, Glenwood Springs, and Grand Junction before settling in Denver.   • Rene Ugarte

    Rene Ugarte represents Spanish-speaking worker's compensation claimants obtaining compensation for injuries sustained on the job. As a Colorado native, she spent most of her childhood in Lakewood but finished school in Denver. She has a keen understanding of the Latino community of Colorado and the difficulties they face in court. With a strong commitment to social justice and public interest advocacy, Rene uses creativity to forge solutions in difficult cases and empathy to help clients through the process. Rene graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, a small private women's college and one of the few left operating in the country. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus on jewelry design and etching. After finishing school, she worked in a variety of industries before deciding to pursue law. Rene attended the University of Kansas School of Law, where she focused on advocacy for under-served individuals. She interned at Legal Services of Western Missouri working on divorces for victims of domestic violence. That same summer she interned at the Missouri Public Defender Appellate Office and drafted her first criminal appeal. The following summer she participated in the University of Kansas Project for Innocence where she drafted her first successful criminal appeal. Rene’s ongoing commitment to underserved populations is best illustrated by her previous work as a state public defender and claimant’s representative for Social Security Disability. Rene loves working with clients and helping them maximize their benefits. She easily explains complex cases to clients and works diligently to ensure their success. When Rene is not at work, you can find her at home with her significant other and their two cats. She enjoys the outdoors, movies and knitting.
